This article includes instructions on how to make updates to your Rula therapist profile via the Rula provider portal and how to request updates to sections not available in the portal.
Making updates to your Rula profile
Therapists can log into the Rula provider portal to update their client-facing profile information.
Therapists can only edit the Expertise and Demographics sections from the Profile tab—visit this help center article to learn how. To update your written bio or change your headshot, you'll need to request profile updates.

- To add new credentials or licenses to your Psychology Today or ZocDoc profiles, please email profiles@rula.com.
-
Please note: CA and several other states have legislation restricting the use of “Dr” for non-physician clinicians. In order to comply with this legislation and ensure consistency across all of our provider profiles in all states:
Only licensed physicians (MD/DO) may use the prefix “Dr.” or the title “Doctor” in any patient-facing setting, including telehealth profiles, emails, documentation, or marketing materials.
Providers with doctoral degrees (e.g., DNP, PsyD, PhD) may continue to list their credentials post-nominally (e.g., “Jane Smith, PsyD”) but should not use “Dr.” in any clinical or public-facing communication.
Other updates related to your profile
- For updates to your liability insurance, CAQH concerns, or state changes, please email credentialingteam@rula.com.
- For updates to your availability, caseload, or “Not taking new patients”, please see below:
Create your Psychology Today or ZocDoc profile
If you did not select profile creation during onboarding and would like a Psychology Today or ZocDoc profile, please email profiles@rula.com to update your marketing preferences.
Our goal is to market therapists at Rula to prospective clients most effectively. We may use all, some, or none of the marketing channels available depending on profile effectiveness, but we also may deactivate these profiles if we believe that they are not showcasing therapists as intended. Don't worry, if you need more clients, we will take appropriate steps to fill your caseload.
How long does it take for profile updates to go live?
- Rula profile updates are generally live on your profile within 1 business day.
- Psychology Today and ZocDoc profile updates may take 1-2 weeks to complete.
If you are outside the expected update timeframe and still do not see your changes reflected, please contact us at profiles@rula.com.
Removing your profile
