Resource library: a guide for therapists

What it is

The resource library is a collection of guided exercises and educational articles, reviewed by clinicians, that you can recommend to clients to reinforce your treatment direction between sessions. You can share relevant resources with clients, including through a session summary, and review exercise responses if a client chooses to share them with you. Clients can also browse the library on their own between sessions.

Currently, the Rula Patient App and accompanying Rula provider portal features for providers is available to a small group of patients as we continue to test the experience and gather feedback. We’ll let you and your patients know when it becomes available more broadly.

Where you'll find it

You can open the Resource Library two ways, both inside your existing provider portal:

  • From a session summary: Open a session summary and select add resource or resource library to browse and select resources for your client.

  • From the client chart: The "Resource Toolkit" tab gives you a read-only view of everything you've shared with that client, plus their engagement.

Resources are organized by type and by category. If you've shared a resource with a client before, you'll see the date you last sent it right on the card. Click on any resource to preview it before assigning.

Assigning resources

In the “add resource” view, tap "select" on each resource you want to include. You can preview exercises and articles by clicking on the resource. There's no minimum or maximum. When you're done, close the view and your selections appear in the resources section of the session summary. You can add or remove resources freely up until you send the summary.

Seeing what your client worked on

The resource toolkit tab on the client chart shows a row for every resource you've shared with that client. For each one, you can see the date you last sent it, a measure of how the client engaged, and their most recent feedback rating. You can also open a client's full set of responses and feedback for any exercise, so you can walk into the next session already knowing what they worked on and whether it helped.

What the client experiences

When you send a summary with resources, the client gets a notification that links them straight into the Rula Patient App. There they can complete the exercises, read the articles, and, if they choose, share their responses and reflections back with you. Clients can also save resources to their own "toolkit" and explore the full library on their own, so some of what you see them using may be self-directed in addition to assigned.

FAQ

Is there a limit to how many resources I can recommend?

  • No. You can recommend as many resources as are relevant for each client.

Why is a client using a resource I didn’t recommend

  • Clients can explore the resource library on their own between sessions, in addition to using resources you’ve shared with them.

Where do I check how a client engaged with what I shared?

  • The Resource Toolkit tab on the client chart shows each shared resource, the date last sent, engagement, and their latest feedback.

Do I have to recommend resources to my clients?

  • No. Recommending resources is optional. You can use your clinical judgment to decide whether a resource would be helpful for a client and when to share it.

Can I add my own resources or customize an exercise?

  • Not at this time. You can recommend exercises and articles available in Rula’s Resource Library.
