Can I use superbills for clients I see outside of Rula?
Each insurance company sets its own guidelines around superbills and out-of-network reimbursement. While Rula isn’t able to determine whether a provider can use a superbill in their private practice while also accepting the same insurance through Rula, we’re here to help you navigate the process. These decisions are made by the insurance payer and can vary based on contract terms, state regulations, and individual circumstances.
If questions come up, these situations are reviewed on a case-by-case basis in alignment with payer requirements.
Are there any payers that do not accept superbills when I also practice with Rula?
Yes. Blue Shield of California and New Horizons (New Jersey) do not accept superbills from providers who are credentialed and practicing with Rula for those same plans.
If you are credentialed with Rula for either of these payers, superbills submitted by your clients for services rendered outside of Rula may be denied.
