In an effort to strengthen our trust and safety standards across Rula and protect the integrity of our network, we require providers to complete a background check through our secure partner, Checkr.
- This is a required step in order to remain active and bookable to continue seeing clients at Rula.
Background checks help us maintain a safe, trusted care environment for both providers and clients.

Background check process
Checkr email invitation
Once a check is initiated, you’ll receive an email and text message from Checkr inviting you to begin your background check. The email will be sent from support@checkr.com and the subject line will be “Start your Rula Health background check”.
Complete the check
The process is secure, mobile-friendly, and typically takes less than 5 minutes. Checkr will collect your personal information securely and directly. You’ll follow the instructions provided in the email from Checkr to sign up and initiate the check.
Here’s the information you’ll be asked for:
- First and last name
- Date of birth
- Social Security number
- Postal code
- Phone number
- Email address
You’ll also need to acknowledge several disclosures related to the collected information and possible screenings, as well as an authorization for these disclosures.
Deadline requirement
You need to complete the background check by the date indicated in the email to ensure your account remains active and compliant. We’ll also send you a reminder the day before the deadline.
Wait for the check to process
Checkr conducts the screenings rapidly—the majority of checks will complete within a few days (~4 days), often faster.
- Possible delays: Some checks can be delayed due to county delays, especially in CA. Because of this, there is no guaranteed timeline for a check to be completed, and some checks could take several weeks.
