Learn important tax filing information for therapists who contract with Rula during the 2024 calendar year. This article is updated for the 2024 tax year (tax filings occurring in 2025).
When will 1099s be filed?
Rula is partnering with Tax1099 (a third-party, IRS-authorized eFile service provider) to handle tax filing for therapists for 2024. Note: Tax1099’s platform where you will access your tax document is called Zenwork xForce.
Rula will complete e-filing for all therapist 1099s by Friday, January 31st, 2025.
This means all therapists eligible to receive form 1099 will receive an Electronic Consent notification from Tax1099 regarding access to their tax form on or before Friday, January 31st, 2025. The notification will be sent to the email address on file in Tipalti.
You'll receive an email from Rula in January 2025 with reminders about accessing your 2024 1099 tax form.
What type of tax form will I receive from Rula?
Form 1099-MISC will be filed and delivered to you electronically if it is required that a W-9 form be generated for the type of business you indicated during your Tipalti setup.
The IRS requires that the 1099-MISC form be filed for all payments made to a business or individual that totaled more than $600.00 in the calendar year, and that related to services performed for the business that was not completed by employees of the company.
If you didn’t receive a 1099 but believe you should have, please email accountspayable@rula.com.

Reasons you may not have received a 1099 from Rula
- If you were paid less than $600 from Rula in 2024, you will not receive a 1099 from Rula (you can log into Tipalti at any time to confirm your total annual payments).
- Businesses that are C-corporations, S-corporations, or LLCs taxed as C-corporations or S-corporations generally will not have 1099 forms generated or sent, as it is not required by the IRS. There are a few exceptions to this for medical or healthcare payments, so please email accountspayable@rula.com if you have any questions about your specific situation.
If the above designations do not apply to you, and you believe you should have received a 1099, please follow these steps:
- Search “Tax1099” in your inbox. As a reminder, the email containing your 1099 comes from noreply@tax1099.com as the sender, not Rula.
- Verify the email you’re using is the correct one on file with Rula. You receive this message at the same email address you input into the Tipalti system for receiving payments.
- Check your spam or junk folders; sometimes, messages from unfamiliar senders are routed there by your email client.
If, after following these steps, you still need help locating the email or didn’t receive a Form 1099 but believe you should have received a 1099, please email accountspayable@rula.com for further assistance.
I’m having trouble downloading my 1099
Your 1099 form can be securely downloaded via Tax1099, a service Rula uses to process tax filing electronically.
After your taxes have been filed (by January 31, 2025) you will receive an email from Tax1099 containing instructions on how to create a Zenwork Xforce account. Creating this account will allow you to consent to receive your tax documents electronically, and view and download these documents within your Zenwork xForce portal.
- See here for instructions on how to complete the Tax1099 Electronic Consent process.
- See here for instructions on accessing your tax form via Zendworks xForce.
Remember, you must first consent to receive forms electronically. This process is required by the IRS to gain consent to electronically deliver forms.

My 1099 contains an error
If your name and/or address are incorrect on your 1099 form, please log into Tipalti and complete an updated W-9 with the correct information. Once you’ve done so, please email accountspayable@rula.com and let us know the information is updated. Once complete, we can update that information and re-file it with the IRS to produce your corrected 1099.
Note: If your updated address is in a different state than the one you have on file, please note that in your correspondence with Rula support, as we will also need to re-file at the state level.
If you have double-checked all information in Tipalti as described above and believe there is an error on your 1099 or you believe a new 1099 should be issued with the updated information, please email accountspayable@rula.com.
