Having an accurate start date for each therapist is vital in providing a great first appointment experience for both therapists and their clients. Without an accurate start date, clients may schedule appointments that later need to be canceled, or a therapist may miss appointments with new clients altogether. It’s therefore extremely important that therapists have meaningful insight into and control over their start date. This article provides a video overview and a step-by-by step guide for viewing and updating your start date in the Rula provider portal.

This video provides a step-by-by step guide for viewing and updating your start date in the Rula provider portal.
Guided Steps
You can view your current start date in two places in the provider portal:
From the Schedule tab
- Log into the provider portal.
- Your current start date will be on a green banner at the top of your calendar on the Schedule tab. This is when you should expect our team to schedule your first initial therapy session with a new client.
Note: You may have zero, one, or several appointments scheduled on this date.
Once your start date has passed, this banner will disappear.
From the Practice tab
- Log into the provider portal.
- Click the Practice tab, located on the menu on the left side of the page.
Your current start date will be on a green banner at the top of the page.
Updating your start date
The start date is initially selected during the onboarding flow. If you would like to adjust this, you can change your start date to a future date or to an earlier date no earlier than the present day. To do so:
From either the Schedule or Practice tab:
- Click update your start date on the green banner at the top of the page.
- A pop-up will appear showing your current start date.
- Click on the calendar icon drop-down to select a new date.
- You'll see a red message if you already have appointments booked with clients. This alerts you that those sessions will be canceled if your start date changes. If you choose to continue, the platform will automatically cancel these appointments with your clients. If you do not yet have any clients scheduled on your calendar, you will not see this alert.
- Click Update to save your changes. You'll see a pop-up message that your start date was successfully updated.
- Your new start date will now appear on the top green banner. This reflects the new earliest date that our team will schedule client appointments on your calendar.
