Using your secret key to recover your Rula provider portal account

This article provides a step-by-step guide for using the secret key provided to you during the initial setup of your portal account. The secret key will be used to regain access to your portal account by adding the Rula portal account to your 2-factor authenticator (Microsoft Authenticator is used in this example).

The primary reasons you may need to use the secret key to access your account are:

  • You got a new phone/device where your two-factor authentication is setup
  • The authenticator app was removed or uninstalled from your phone or device

Guided Steps

To use your secret key to reset your Rula provider portal account:

  1. Make sure you have an authentication app downloaded. If you do not, we recommend downloading the Microsoft authenticator app for iPhone/Android.
  2. Open your authentication app and tap Add Account.
  3. Tap Other Account.
    • Wording may vary depending on the app being used.
  4. You may be asked to give the app permission to access your camera. Allow access.
  5. Instead of using the camera to scan a QR code, tap Enter account manually.
    • Wording may vary depending on the app being used.
  6. Type Rula Portal in the Account Name field.
  7. Type in your secret key in the Secret Key field.
  8. Tap Finish.
    • Wording may vary depending on the app being used.
  9. You should now see the 6-digit code you’ll use to log in to the Rula provider portal.

You can use the secret key to add the Rula provider portal account back to your authentication app. This will let you access your code for future logins to the portal.

I'm unable to find my secret key - now what?

In the event that you are unable to locate your secret key, our support team can perform a portal reset which will require you to create a new password and setup Multi-factor authentication again.

Note: A support agent will need to assist you to manually process the request. Please either call support at (323)676-7425 or contact an agent through the chat widget in the help center.
